Code of Conduct
Lumina Arts Dance Eisteddfod:
Code of Conduct
Lumina Arts Code of Conduct
For Parents, Dancers & Spectators
At Lumina Arts, we believe that the side-stage jitters and the big stage lights should be paired with a culture of kindness, respect, and community. To ensure everyone has a pleasant day, we ask all attendees to follow our Code of Conduct.
1. Support Every Performer
Whether they are from your studio or a rival school, every dancer has worked incredibly hard to get on that stage.
- Do: Cheer loudly and clap for every troupe.
- Don’t: Make negative comments about other routines, costumes, or abilities. If you don't have something nice to say, save it for the car ride home!
2. Respect the Officials
Our volunteers, backstage managers, and staff are here to make the day run smoothly for your children.
- Please follow their instructions regarding seating, entry/exit from the auditorium, and dressing room space.
- Abuse of staff will result in immediate removal from the venue.
3. The "Silent" Auditorium Rule
To give every dancer their best chance at a high score:
- No Entry/Exit: Please do not enter or leave the auditorium while a troupe is performing. Wait for the music to stop and the bows to finish.
- Phones on Silent: Ensure all devices are switched to silent.
- No Filming: This is a major safety and copyright rule. Let the professional media team handle the footage while you enjoy the moment with your own eyes!
4. Dressing Room Etiquette
Space is always at a premium!
- Keep your studio’s dedicated area tidy and compact.
- No Spraying: Please take hairspray and glitter-spray outside to avoid triggering asthma or fire alarms.
- Privacy: Be mindful that these are shared spaces. Keep it professional and supportive.
5. The Adjudicator’s Space
The adjudicator’s table is a "No Go Zone." * Even if you know the adjudicator personally, please do not approach them or attempt to strike up a conversation.
- Their decision is final and based on their professional expertise on the day.
6. Sportsmanship is Golden
Winning a trophy is great, but the way you carry yourself matters more.
- Congratulate other studios in the wings and in the foyer.
- Lumina Arts is a "bully-free" zone. Any unsportsmanlike behaviour from parents or students may lead to a studio’s disqualification.
Let’s make sure every dancer shines today!
